Di Banyuwangi terdapat sejumlah lokasi yang menjadi tempat
penyu bertelur. Dahulu telur-telur penyu tersebut banyak diburu masyarakat
untuk diperjualbelikan karena nilai ekonomisnya yang cukup tinggi. Namun kemudian
ada kesadaran dari sekelompok masyarakt tentang pentingnya penyelamatan telur penyu
demi menjaga kelestarian penyu dari kepunahan.
